I always like the story about Doc Holladay thinking he would die on his feet with his boots on but in the end died in his bed with his boots off and realizing that was going to be so, simply said "Well I'll be damned" and then died.
I think I'll start working on my last words now, as to not be caught off guard.
I just thought of my own:
"Nothing was ever adequately explained."
