I think my mind has just been blown. It's no secret I'm a huge Lord Of The Rings fan. Well, a housing development is being created in Bend, Oregon called The Shire....

"The Shire evokes a sense of Place and Enchantment. All the homes in The Shire are facing the fully landscaped common areas. You will find Old World dry stack terraced walls supporting beautifully developed planting beds. Walk along the curving pathways to discover scene after scene of interestingly integrated garden features within the lands of the hobbits: waterfalls tressing, streams meandering, garden statues, ponds, lush grasses, towering pines, twisted juniper. Sing in your own amphitheater, discover the homes of the orginal Shire residents embedded in the hillside. At home in The Shire......Connect with Nature......Smile at your neightbor and feel at peace in this village community, in this sanctuary, in this Place of Enchantment! "

If you're not clear on what this means, let me spell it out for you: if you're a Tolkien fan, and if you can afford it, it is soon going to be possible TO LIVE IN THE F**KING SHIRE.

You mean they don't do this kind of development idea down in the bible belt? Those crazy Oregonians!

VE, you should move to the Shire. I'll dress up as Gandalf and visit you. Which would be funny, as I'm 5'5"
