HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!!!

Here's an article you should read called
"What's So Great About America?"
http://www.taemag.com/issues/articleID.19267/article_detail.asp

"In America your destiny is not prescribed; it is constructed. Your life is like a blank sheet of paper and you are the artist. This notion of being the architect of your own destiny is the incredibly powerful idea that is behind the worldwide appeal of America. Young people especially find the prospect of authoring their own lives irresistible. The immigrant discovers that America permits him to break free of the constraints that have held him captive, so that the future becomes a landscape of his own choosing."

Now don't blow off any of your fingers.

*07/13/06* *Addendum*
My blogger friend in India, Jerry Mannel Reghunadh, has added valuable perspective - simply being an expat is not enough of a solution...
http://jerryreghunadh.blogspot.com/2006/07/what-is-great-about-india-to-my.html

"We were once the epicenter, the cradle of knowledge. It is such virulent and disgraceful thoughts that has brought My Nation to its present state. Has he did any thing to alleviate the poor, the sick or the worried of this country? Has he done anything to fight the evils that feast on the very soul of this nation?"

"Then there is the question, why did the people, the society divide itself into strata, when they were morally well developed. Was it because, there were people hungry for power? Was it because there was some prejudice of some kind?
If I am to say NO, a big fat NO, then I should have my reasons too. For the answer we, need to go deep into the history of our nation."

Hi pal,
I have absolutely no prejudice against America or its citizens. I value your patriotism as i value mine.

But citing an article written by a foreigner, who has forgotten about his home land without contributing anything to wards the progress of his country, I say belittles your expression in your post.

Its just my opinion and nothing more .

Hi friend,
Well, i didnt mean he had betrayal in his words. He was just thanking and praising the country that helped to make him what he is today.

As i said, i hold no grudge agaist US. In fact it has really helped many indians to grow and rise up. Even our President has worked for NASA.

I was trying to say that, all those people returned back and are contributing their part back here. May be Mr. D'Souza, might also be doing the same, i may never know. I only wanted to bring up this point.

Anyway thanks for your valuable comment. Looking fwd for some interesting posts from your side.
